This Bunny Bait Snack Mix is fun and easy to make, but I found out the hard way that the order of assembly makes a difference.
Assembly Notes
You’ll see similar mixes on Pinterest and think that there’s no need for a recipe (which is kind of true), but it’s best to think of the melted chocolate as the glue that holds the toppings on the pretzels.

You will get the toppings to stick to the pretzels better if you layer the pretzels in a single layer on your paper-covered cookie sheet first.
Then, melt and drizzle your chocolate.
Stick the toppings into the chocolate while it’s still soft.
If you really want a good stick for those toppings, you can melt and add more chocolate drizzle over the toppings. Yum!
Containers that Do the Job
After letting the chocolate harden, you can break the Bunny Bait Snack Mix apart and serve, or store it in a covered container.
I recommend a container and not a bag for storage. I tried a bag first but the chocolate drizzle is easily knocked off (it’s brittle when it hardens) and you end up with lots of chocolate at the bottom of the bag instead of on the pretzels and popcorn.
A Mix to Match the Seasons
Although the mix is more “Springtime” looking with white chocolate, I prefer a semi-sweet or dark chocolate. For the photo, I used Valentines Day colors.
You could use various toppings and candy colors for any holiday, including St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween, or Fourth of July.
You can find unicorn sprinkles for a special someone, too!
Bunny Bait Snack Mix
Equipment
- cookie sheets
- parchment or waxed paper
Ingredients
- 1 10 oz. M&Ms seasonal colors are fun
- 1 8 oz. Mini pretzels
- 1 c. Mini marshmallows
- 2 T, rainbow sprinkles
- 1 ½ c. popcorn (popped)
- 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
Instructions
- Prep cookie sheets with parchment or waxed paper.
- Line up popcorn, marshmallows, M&Ms, and sprinkles on countertop.
- Start by filling cookie sheets with one single layer of mini pretzels.
- Melt chocolate morsels in a microwave-safe container in microwave about 2 minutes and stir with a spatula to remove any lumps. (Microwave times may vary)
- Pour melted chocolate into a gallon zip bag or pastry bag. If using a gallon bag, snip off a little corner. I also like to cut of the zipper top, but it's up to you.
- Drizzle melted chocolate over pretzels. The more chocolate, the more surface area for toppings to stick.
- Press popcorn, M&Ms, marshmallows, and sprinkles on pretzels.
- Let trays sit about two hours before breaking into pieces. You want the chocolate to harden.
- Break apart clusters and serve as a snack, or store in an airtight container.
