It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like…

River birch in winter landscape

It takes one overnight Alberta Clipper, and we’ve got chaos. School cancelled, cars in ditches, snowblowers blasting away.  In the garden, though, nothing but peace.

They are my scourge and my joy.

A half-hearted effort to protect new shrubs. I really have to do something about this!

Deer netting around a peony hoop just doesn’t make it as far as deer protection.

Sunshine on fresh snow is one of those miracles of nature, not to mention the striking shadows that create natural abstract paintings.

Sunlight creates abstract patterns on the surface of the snow.

River birch (Betula nigra) and spruce provide a beautiful frame for the sparkling blue sky.

River birch (Betula nigra) bark is a great focal point in the winter landscape

This simple tree branch star looks so pretty in a nature theme holiday setting, and you can’t beat the price!

Christmas decor doesn’t get better, or less expensive, than this tree branch star.

Sorry for the blur, my shaking was getting the best of me, but these stars are some of my favorite Christmas lights.

Snowflake lights plus real snow create a scene worthy of “Frozen.”

Enjoy this inspiring season, even if you are on the inside looking out!  For more garden photos from around the globe, visit The Propagator Six on Saturday.
