A.JoAnn a Year Ago this Week: July Garden Survivors

Every Wednesday, we’ll take a look back at a popular post from last year!  Maybe you are new to A.Joann, or your memory needs a reboot.  Join us to take a look back.

The July garden can take a beating in the Midwest. It often ends with a few weeks of drought, lots of steely, tap rooted weeds, and a Japanese beetle infestation. But, this year, June brought a lot of rain, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Tulle net keeps the jays from getting the berries.

The blueberry bushes are thriving. So far, I’ve been able to keep the chipmunks and jays out with a variety of netting and twine. The jays are smart enough to peck at the twine and net. I’ve been checking and securing it regularly.

The berries can ripen under the net.

The Maltese cross has been vibrant.

The Blood grass is a complement to the July blooms.

Asiatic lilies do well within the garden fence.

So do the Daylilies.
