The July garden can take a beating in the Midwest. It often ends with a few weeks of drought, lots of steely, tap rooted weeds, and a Japanese beetle infestation. But, this year, June brought a lot of rain, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
The blueberry bushes are thriving. So far, I’ve been able to keep the chipmunks and jays out with a variety of netting and twine. The jays are smart enough to peck at the twine and net. I’ve been checking and securing it regularly.
The Maltese cross has been vibrant.
The Blood grass is a complement to the July blooms.
Asiatic lilies do well within the garden fence.
So do the Daylilies.
Hosta “Francis Williams” blooms profusely.
Hosta “Blue Angel” has a heavenly scent!
Even the onion blooms look spectacular.
Lettuces and kale come into their own.
This Goatsbeard lights up the shady areas of the yard.
Here’s to a bountiful growing season. We’ll check back again in August!
