The last plant I spied on my hike was this pretty mapleleaf viburnum. I didn’t recognize it right away. Unlike the garden viburnum I have growing in my yard, this plant has small, delicate leaves.
Spring is a great time of year to see the contours of the land. Get out there and enjoy your hike!
Even with the early spring blooms still strutting their stuff, we can see more plants getting ready for the “May Show.”

Also thanks to these roots, daylilies are wonderful plants for hillsides or banks to help prevent erosion.
The only flowers that I could recognize for certain were – dandelions!
Then, in 2021, this happened.
I don’t normally watch Nature on PBS but having just finished The Invention of Nature, and being laid up due to some dental issues, I decided to give the episode “The Serengeti Rules” a go.
Glad I did.
