Lunenberg was designated a (UNESCO) World Heritage Site in 1995.
Built in 1892-93, it was not a “mill” in the traditional sense, but generated compressed air which was used by the Sheep Mountain Tunnel and Mining Company.
The views are amazing, and a reward for the climb.
I find the flora equally amazing.
There are many wonderful hiking trails in this section of White River National Forest, but the Anthracite Pass hike has taken a top spot on my list.
If you have a chance, visit this magnificent manor. This is one home and garden tour worth your time.
It was warm and sunny during the day, and cool at night. We didn’t need heat or air conditioning. This is a huge energy saver.
