Crystal Mill, Crystal, Colorado

The Crystal Mill on the edge of the tiny village of Crystal, Colorado, is a scenic destination for many hikers on the road to Crystal.

The old Crystal Mill, an ongoing restoration project

Built in 1892-93, it was not a “mill” in the traditional sense, but generated compressed air which was used by the Sheep Mountain Tunnel and Mining Company.

The mining company closed in 1917. The building fell into disuse and the wheel is gone. Yet, the structure continues to attract admirers and photographers.

It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
