Chincoteague Island offers lots of fun!
How do you know if they’re having fun? Just look at their faces.
Chincoteague, Virginia is an island connected via bridge to the Virginia mainland. We’ve spent several summer vacations on this pretty island, sister to Assateague Island.
Assateague is the home of the famous wild ponies.
Equally famous, in our family anyway, is the Island Creamery on Maddox Boulevard. Here, you can indulge in a wide variety of homemade ice cream flavors.
Best of all, the waffle cones are made right in front of you! They are crispy and fresh, the perfect container for that heavenly ice cream.

We like traveling in October. May have to reconsider the islands for next year.
It’s very pretty, though not during mosquito season! My favorite time was when we went in October. Still warm, but not too hot.
Okay, we have NOT been there…but we did seriously consider taking a trip there 🙂
